Dreamhost

They suck. I don’t feel like getting into all of the boring specifics right now, but after enduring my first few months with Dreamhost (via a non-personal project), I can’t wait to leave them. I know every blogger in the world thinks that they are just the cat’s pajamas, but I for one, think that they stink.

Seriously, don’t get caught up in their touchy-feely ways that make them seem so “real” and so noble, and forget about the one thing you want them to do – not go down, which they can’t seem to do very well. Maybe if they stopped posting stupid photos of themselves getting wasted, and spent some time monitoring things, there wouldn’t be any downtime.

Congratulations, you have a blog that keeps me up to date on the outages. How quaint. It should be empty. If I want to read blogs and have friends, I will read my friend’s blogs. For now, I am going to stay with my blog-less host that just keeps shit running.

You stink Dreamhost, and I hate you. Commence Dreamhost loving comments below.

Mac Nerds On High Alert

Please tell me that this item from MacRumorsLive’s Apple keynote liveblog has something to do with the difficulty of using the new Apple device, and not with this particular nerd’s excitement over it’s release.

Mac iPhone

By the way, it’s the iPhone. Yawn.

Things That Suck

This week in things that suck:

  1. WordPress 2.0 sucks. The WYSIWYG editor is terribly awfully horrendous, the image uploading system is craptastic, and I can’t really see any particular reason that I would stick with it. I am a big supporter of WordPress, but I think I am going back to 1.5.
  2. MSN Adcenter terms and conditions box sucks. Look at this. It is an actual screenshot of the terms and conditions box that you need to read when signing up. Honestly.
  3. BlogAds continues to suck. Their site STILL sucks, their interface sucks, the whole process of buying and/or selling ads sucks. And to top it off, I was going to finally give them another go (since earnings can make a sucky thing less sucky) and wouldn’t ya know it, still non-standard ad sizing. BLOGADS, LISTEN TO ME. MAKE 120×600 and 120×240 AD UNITS. 98.7% of the blogs I have seen out there utilize some sort of 2 or 3 column setup, where the side columns are used for navigation and ads, and most of them are suited for 120 pixel ad units. For god’s sake, get some god damn standard ad units that people will use. Seriously, I hate you guys.
