I am not big on setting official New Years resolutions, but somehow it always seems that the holidays bring out a bit of a reflective streak, and I end up thinking about some things I want to do this year…so I guess I make resolutions in a round-about way.

Two of the items on my list this year were to get into better shape, and to donate more to charity.

My efforts to get in shape started with me joining a gym that literally opened across the street from my building, but so far I have gone less than 10 times total. I hate to quit on this one so soon, but I may kill the month-to-month (I knew better than to commit for a year) membership by the end of February and just mark this as a failure. I just can’t get down with the gym, I really dislike everything about it. I would much much prefer being active outside, playing soccer, running around, biking, etc…so I think I just need to admit to myself that I am not a gym person and stop forcing it.

So far, my giving to charity has been going a bit better. Giving is incredibly easy to do (this is one of those sectors that the internet transformed so amazingly) online, and I feel great about doing it. My charity of choice today was the MSPCA here in Boston, which as someone who loves animals, was a fulfilling donation to make.

Things have been super busy lately, and as such, I haven’t posted a ton of interesting content in the past few weeks. Well, this week is no exception, other than I have decided to take some of my uninteresting and half-baked thoughts and throw them bullet-point into a single post. Please to enjoy.

• I love selling my used and now unwanted stuff on Amazon.com, particularly books, cd’s, video games and computer software. The interface is super easy to use, my stuff sells quickly, and I get Amazon credit instead of cash for each sale, which works great for me. I can’t stand selling on Craigslist, and ebay bugs me, so Amazon all the way for me right now.
• Spent some time in NYC last week for the ADTech show. The show was nice, and I got to see lots of people that I seem to only see at these events, but the action surrounding the show was even better. I got a chance to eat the best meal I have had in recent memory at Nobu, and also got to take in the Knicks season opener at Madison Square Garden from some free club seats.
• As the weather gets colder, I lean more on Netflix and OnDemand, and start catching up on shows and movies that I missed over the summer. Seth lent me the DVDs for It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, which I started watching this weekend. I was expecting the show to be funnier, and it hasn’t made me really laugh out loud yet, but I still find myself enjoying it. The characters are great, and the show is just good. Well written, well acted, and just a good show. Worth checking out for sure.
• Speaking of tv shows, I started watching The Next Iron Chef on Food Network, but have since bailed out on it. I am a HUGE Iron Chef fan, but somehow this Survivor-style show designed to find the next Iron Chef just didn’t work for me. I just feel like the Iron Chef’s are the best of the best, and they should be chosen more thoughtfully, not via this sort of challenge-based show.
• I think I am going to sell all of my cd’s. I have about 200 right now, and all I really do with them, is pack them up and then unpack them again every year or so when I move. I’ll probably sell them on Amazon one by one, or maybe to someone else all at once. I also thought about separating them logically, and then selling $5 grab bags of 3 cds apiece. Anyone else have any creative ideas on how I could sell these?
• Haru just opened here in Boston, and I had a chance to check it out this past Friday. It’s still new, so they are working out the kinks, but the food was great. I am a big fan of the NYC locations, and happy to have one here in Boston now. Seems like Sushi restaurants are on every corner these days.
• This site attempted to befriend me on MySpace this week. Apparently DirtySexyWater is for real. I don’t know what is worse, the writing, the pictures, or the design. What a disaster. It is certainly no NJGuido.com, that is for damn sure.
• We were joking here that given our audience (young teens), that we should re-name our Quibblo FAQ to be called the Quibblo IDK. I think we could start something here.
• And lastly, apparently the building next to mine here in Boston has had some sprinkler system issues of late. As a result, the Boston fire department has had to have men stationed outside of the building, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This has been going on now for about six weeks, around the clock. For the first three weeks, it was five firefighters and one Boston fire truck. More recently they have scaled back, and it is just two firefighters in their own cars. I have no idea who is footing the bill here, but it must be costing a fortune.
