A Cross Country Travel Blog

Last night Julie and I said goodbye to my brother and his girlfriend Becca, as they packed up their rented Prius and set out on a meandering cross-country trip, which will take them to some remote corners of the continental US, and back again.

But seriously folks, our rented Toyota Prius will be taking us on an adventure through Chicago, the Badlands, Yellowstone, the Grand Tetons (translate at your own risk), Jackson Hole, Zion/Bryce/Arches, the Grand Canyon, the California coast and several other places that we didn’t feel like listing here because honestly, who the hell goes to Buffalo, Wyoming?

In true nerd style, they have a blog, which will chronicle their travels, and said blog can be found at AccordingToThisMap.com.

So if you are looking for another blog with a writing style sort of like mine, but with more pictures of road signs and city names that sound vaguely sexual, and of wild animals humping in our national parks, you should add this feed to your reader.

Work Can Be Fun

After a somewhat long and often frustrating day, I just had the following changes pop into my inbox, regarding a task/ticket that was being worked on by two of my co-workers here at the office. I found it particularly funny, and it was a good way to end the day.

I only had one change. Could the Fart badge be changed so that it reads “Asphyxiating on my own farts”? I just realized the shift in pronouns there. Sorry for not catching that sooner.

new zip attached with fart change

Not everyone gets that sort of levity injected into every day stuff at work, and when I see things like this in our task tracking system, it’s a good reminder that we have a pretty fun atmosphere and product set here.

YearbookYourself.com

I’ve been seeing these fake yearbook photos bouncing around the web for the past couple of weeks, and thought they were funny. I didn’t even realize until just now when I visited the site, that they were part of a marketing campaign from Colle+McVoy for Taubman managed malls.

Very well done little campaign. And lots of fun.

Worst iPhone App Ever

While kicking around app ideas here at the office, I had an idea for what I think could be the worst iPhone app ever. It’d be dead simple to build, and I’d call it “iPhone Discus”. Basically it would use the phone’s built in GPS to see how far you could throw your iPhone. Enter a location, throw, record location. That’s it.
