MySpace Founders On The Today Show

Remember the last time you saw Chris DeWolfe and Tom Anderson (MySpace Founders) on camera, being interviewed? Right, me neither. Aside from print stories, and aside from Tom being arguably the most famous person on the internet, these guys are not much for the television appearances, much less live ones.

So needless to say, I was a bit surprised when I saw them mugging with Matt Lauer for a live interview on the Today Show this morning. Click below for the video (sorry MSN doesn’t believe in embeddable content…)

America’s Next Top Model 9 – Winners

It’s been a while, and I have slacked on my picks for some of the more recent seasons of America’s Next Top Model. But I figured in keeping with the superficial female beauty contest theme of late, that I may as well bring it back. After picking poorly last time out, I need to redeem myself with America’s Next Top Model Season 9. (here are some picks from previous seasons)

Overall, this group looks like just a bunch of pretty girls, which is different than a bunch of models. I am guessing that casting (after nine seasons), is now really more concerned with on set drama than with actually picking a legit model here…so let’s work with what we’ve got.

Here are my picks, and I am only going with two this time around, since the field is pretty weak.

Americas Next Top Model

  1. Jenah – This (to me) is what a model looks like. Pasty, waif-ish, vapid, and empty looking, but with basic pretty features. She is pretty, but in a blank canvas sort of way, so she can easily be transformed into all sorts of other looks, but still maintain that pretty look. I am thinking Jenah (despite the stupid spelling of her name), will take this year’s prize.
  2. Saleisha – This is just a good looking girl. Nice symmetrical features, plain-ish and naturally pretty look, and look at the photo….she knows how to stand like a model, which from what I have seen, takes some of these girls a lot of time to figure out how to do.
  3. Disagree with me? Pick your own. Here is a poll to pick the winners of America’s Next Top Model, cycle 9.

Vegetarians

I am halfway through Kitchen Confidential, by one of my favorite chef/author/tv personalities Anthony Bourdain, and this particular bit about vegetarians made me smile.

Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter-faction, the vegans, are a persistent irritant to any chef worth a damn. To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living. Vegetarians are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit, an affront to all I stand for, the pure enjoyment of food. The body, these waterheads imagine, is a temple that should not be polluted by animal protein. It’s healthier, they insist, though every vegetarian waiter I’ve worked with is brought down by any rumor of a cold. Oh, I’ll accommodate them, I’ll rummage around for something to feed them, for a ‘vegetarian plate’, if called on to do so. Fourteen dollars for a few slices of grilled eggplant and zucchini suits my food cost fine.

I have no personal issues with vegetarians aside from agreeing with Mr. Bourdain that they are missing out on a whole hell of a lot…I just found his take on these folks amusing.
