I am not usually one to get overly starstruck when it comes to seeing professional athletes, but last night, when we plopped down at the Excelsior bar here in Boston, and noticed that Manny Ramirez was sitting next to us, I was pretty taken aback.

I have been a huge Red Sox fan since I was about 8 years old, and Manny Ramirez is far and away my favorite Sox player, and has been for years. So it was pretty odd to see Manny doing normal people things, like sitting in the bar, having a drink with his wife, watching baseball highlights on the bar TV.
And no, I didn’t say anything to him because…
- He didn’t look like he wanted to be bothered.
- He had struck out to end the game in a critical situation hours earlier.
- If for some reason he was less than polite to me, it would have ruined the Manny Ramirez aura for me, and I didn’t want to risk it.
Either way, it was pretty cool.

You forgot to mention that I was the one who spotted him and pointed him out to you
