Networking Karma

I have been on a white hot streak lately when it comes to facilitating some great business relationships between friends and associates of mine. So far, none of these relationships, regardless of how large or small the outcome for the match-ees, have really benefited me directly yet…which for the record is fine by me. I believe in good referral karma, and I am told that lately, I have a lot of credit sitting out there should I ever need some favors down the road. So when the time comes hopefully it will pay dividends.

Anyways, it reminded me of something a bit more robust I wrote on the topic a few months back that I thought deserved another pass.

Here it is.

And of course, catch me on linked in if you want to virtually lay claim to the fact that you know me professionally. Business-social-networking…I hear it’s wild.

Me! Live And In Person!

I will be heading out west next week for what has become an annual pilgrimage to the AD:Tech conference (west coast version) in San Francisco to mix and mingle with other online advertising types. If you haven’t been, and are in the online marketing and media space, I highly recommend the show, as both socially and professionally it is always a good time and I always come back re-invigorated and feeling enthusiastic about online marketing as an industry.

ADTech San Fran

My flight gets in the afternoon of Tuesday, April 24th and I will be floating around the Moscone Center and the post-adtech-show party scene until I head home on the red-eye Thursday night. I plan to keep my schedule pretty loose and open, so if you are attending the show, and want to meet up for a coffee or a quick chat, drop me a note sometime beforehand, and we can try and a set aside some a few minutes to catch up.

Pizzagate

I am a big fan of the Jerry Remy/Don Orsillo combination on NESN. I know there are probably some that prefer a more stoic and static announcing team, but I think they add some extra light-hearted entertainment to certain games that would otherwise drag on interminably. Whenever a game gets out of hand, Jerry and Don routinely go on tangents that have NOTHING to do with baseball, The Red Sox, or the game in front of them, and it always keeps me tuned in.

To that end, check out this great clip, which is not only a good demonstration of the random ramblings of the announcing crew during blowouts, but is actually a hilarious pizza driven attack…some food based fan-on-fan violence.

Hurry up and watch this now, because NESN (given their new heavy handedness with regards to content) will no doubt have this clip ripped down real soon.

Yelp!

Every day I read through techcrunch, mashable, digg, etc and am smashed in the face with new sites and tools and products….and it is overwhelming. One site though has risen from all of the noise and the clutter and become one of my favorite online destinations ever.

I used Yelp.com to find good restaurants, to get insider info, to get good tips and tricks, and to communicate with other food-loving people in and around Boston…or wherever I may be traveling to, and it has always been dead on. If you haven’t used Yelp before, I HIGHLY recommend that you check it out, and if you love it like I do, contribute to the community with your own reviews as often as possible, as that is what keeps the site awesome.

My profile is here. Be my Yelp friend.
