It’s a pretty craptastic time to be a basketball fan here in Boston. Yah, the Celtics are hot lately (lately = the past 15 hours or so) with a seemingly unstoppable one game winning streak, but they stumbled a bit before that in case you didn’t notice, and the remaining season is going to revolve around amassing as many ping pong balls as possible, only to somehow inexplicably defy the odds and get the 7th pick in the ‘08 draft.
ANYWAYS, the one bright spot in my opinion…the one reason to watch the Celtics from here on out, is Gerald Green. He’s 21, he’s raw athleticism, he’s fun to watch, and he can jump through the roof. It’s been a long time (aka never) since the Celtics had a bona fide young showboat who would rather do a triple-axle back flip somersault reverse dunk than get the guaranteed two points on a layup. Maybe that type of play isn’t exactly helping the Celtics win games this year, but it sure is awesome to watch.
Here are some clips of the man at work.
Catch him in the dunk contest this weekend in Las Vegas, where the smartest bet is that at least 5 NBA players will get into some sort of illegal trouble before the season starts back up.
