I wish they would bring this back.
Weekly Album – Week #1
I’ve been lax lately when it comes to buying new music. Not necessarily in listening to it, since I am on Last, or Soma, or whatever, nearly 8 hours per day, but I have certainly dropped the disco ball when it comes to the actual purchasing of the music I like. Time to make a change, and I am doing so by committing to a new “Weekly Album” regimen, which is exactly what it sounds like…I will buy one album each week for an undermined amount of weeks. Maybe 5, or maybe 50. Who knows. Not going to limit myself to only brand new releases, since there is SO much out there that I come across and want, but to stay as current as possible, I will make my purchases on Tuesdays (new release day).
ANYWAYS, my selection this week is the new Shin’s Album, Wincing The Night Away, which I have been anticipating eagerly for some time now.

Also coming with it, but not included in my Weekly Album routine, were two Handsome Boy Modeling School albums (White People, and So…How’s Your Girl?), both excellent so far.
Any suggestions are welcomed in the comments or via email. If you want to get a sense of my tastes, this is a good place to start.

Er, no thanks. Anyone want to take some bets on this one? Less than 60 days, hacked and compromised.
The Wire On BET
I don’t claim to be an original fan of The Wire, seeing as I missed the first three seasons without so much as a second glance…but since catching season 4 this past fall, I am hooked. Just when I was going to grab the DVDs and get caught up, I saw a promo announcing that BET will show the first three seasons starting this past January 10th, every Thursday night at 9.
Figured it might be a good heads up for those johnny-come-latelys like me who want to catch up on the back story. Two things to note however. One, they blank out the profanity (except shit, which South Park made acceptable) which takes away from the true feel of the show a bit, and two…the shows are extended to 90 minutes a piece to fit in 30 minutes of commercials, which sucks. So if you have TiVo or DVR, this is tailor made for recording and fast forwarding through the ads.
