Looks like utube.com finally decided to make lemonmoney out of lemontraffic. Opting NOT to sell to Google, the industrial tubing company instead added some paid search to the top of it’s highly trafficked site.
With two million visitors per month, this could offset some of the bandwidth costs they have, and also make a few bucks…but more than the $1mm that they were offered to sell out? Who knows.
Also, did anyone ever consider that they might just get two million users per month because they make REALLY AWESOME INDUSTRIAL TUBING? Maybe it has nothing whatsoever to do with confusing the site with Youtube. Could be.
And in case you were wondering (because I really was), EWEtube.com is already taken. My initial thought was to get the domain, replicate the Youtube layout, and then syndicate all of the sheep videos from youtube for content….there are over 5,000 sheep videos by the way. From there, I’d sit back and wait for the buyout offer (or C&D) from Google. Unfortunately someone had a lite-r version of the same idea, and put forth a lackluster sheep based parody before I had a chance to swoop in. Oh well, maybe next time.

If you’re looking for bad domain name parodies, I’d be happy to sell you worcesterster.com.
