Crossing The Street In Boston

In my recent travels, of which there have been many, I often am amazed at the lack of jaywalking that takes place in cities other than Boston. When I went to San Francisco some 2 years ago for the first time, I noticed it above almost everything else. Seemed as though people would awkwardly sit at a “Don’t Walk” sign IRREGAHDLESS of whether or not there was any traffic present. And god forbid you crossed out of turn, you would feel the stares like daggers in the back of the head.

Turns out someone else has picked up on this charming oddity of Boston as well.

The Husband and I thought we were going to get citizens’ arrested for crossing the street illegally in California. Necks practically snapped as heads whipped around to see us step gingerly into the deserted main street in Sausalito.

More here.

an animal only seen in the NE. I’ve got a bunch of left coast family who are all Worcester expats, my uncle, a avid runner, was living in orange county for only a few weeks before he was ticketed for ‘jay jogging’ through an eight lane courtesy stop with no cars in sight. And if I remember correctly the fine was larger than your average MA Pike speeding ticket.

Maybe you didn’t notice that other little detail hidden above? Courtesy stop? Eight lanes?
Yea, its called civilized society, kinda begins to explain why MA leads the country in accidents. If you’re looking for a self governing transportation system shared equally by bikes, feet and cars go anywhere but MA. If you’re looking for angry clueless moving people. Welcome.

I’m walking here! I’m walking here!
