Paying It Forward

Miscellaneous

I can’t stress the importance of networking enough. It doesn’t always need to be done over cocktails at an event where everyone is wearing name tags and pushing business cards on one another, even casually introducing friends to other friends, and doing favors for once removed acquaintances, can pay big dividends in the end. Be it helping someone to get a job interview, or a business contact, or a meeting, or a client, making friends with people and growing a network within the business world is vital to being successful.

Even if the person you are helping out doesn’t have something that is of immediate benefit to you, at some point down the road, you will be able to call on that person when they CAN help you out, and chances are, they will be there. That being said, I want to plug someone that helped me out this week. To be clear, I don’t get anything out of this beyond knowing that I am doing what I can to pay back the favor that was paid to me. No free services, no commissions, no nothing.

3000k - If you need good design, these are your guys. For those of you who know me, or read my drivel on a regular basis, you know that I loathe bad design, and am very stingy with the compliments when it comes to web and graphic designers, but 3000k has a portfolio that I am very comfortable linking to. Good work and good people. Don’t be a do-it yourself-er if you are not a designer by trade. Do whatever you do, and let Eric and his gang take care of the design.

Vintage Red Cross Calendar - This is just cool, AND it is for a good cause. Personally, I breeze past most of the “Donate To The Red Cross” banners I see on the web (I know, I am a BAD person), but this is different. Super cool vintage design, customizable calendar, and 50% of the profit to the cause. Get one now.

Andrew Teman has a great post about 3000k and their calendar project and how to pay it forward: Even if the person you are helping out doesn’t have something that is of immediate benefit to you, at some point down
