Who Buys Monistat Seven?

I was just reading this post about Web 2.0 being similar to 6 minute abs over on on Pete’s site, and then clicked off to another site which referenced a scene from There’s Something About Mary, and it got me thinking.

Who buys Monistat Seven?

Look, I have never had a yeast infection, mainly because I don’t have a vagina, so I am presuming a bit here.

BUT, I would imagine that when you have something like this (a yeast infection, not a vagina), that it is IMPERATIVE that this issue is cleared up as quickly possible. To that end, with Monistat Three (three day cure), and Monistat One (ONE DAY CURE) on pharmacy shelves across the country, who in sam hell is buying Monistat Seven?

Somebody please clear this up for me (pun very much intended).

I love the Google ads on this post. I wonder if ‘Yeast Infection’ has a high click-thru value.

No this isn’t just a question men around the world are wondering. Without getting into any kind of detail regarding my own yeast infection history (believe me it’s not very exciting) I would just like to say that I know of no female friend of mine that has ever purchased, used, or even thought about using Monistat 7, or Monistat 3 for that matter. It really doesn’t make any sense, maybe Monistat 7 has fewer side effects, or maybe it’s for the cheapskate yeast infection sufferer, or perhaps this is what you get when you send a man to do a woman’s job. I am puzzled myself.

I asked my doctor the same thing and what she had to say made alot of sense. She said that yes those one time treatments do work to get rid of enough yeast to no longer be showing symptoms, but there are still a few of the strongest ones left behind with the one day treatment. The next relapse has the potential to be worse because slightly stronger bugs are there now. With the seven day treatment you can hopefully wipe out all the bugs by bombarding them for seven days with the drug. It is the same reason why we are all told to continue taking antibiotics till they are gone even if we are feeling better. The chance of reinfection by stronger bugs is greater if they are not getting destroyed by the meds for a certain length of time.

Makes sense to me but society wants the quick fix or cure so that is why they are on the market…and I am guessing if relapse is more likely to occur with the shorter treatments then the manufacturers will keep selling it for a profit.

I use the 7 day treatment because the one day and three day versions are stronger than the 7 day (hence the reason you use one one day and the other for three), and the stronger versions irritate my delicate vaginal tissues. I hope this helps. :)

I know it seems like it wouldn’t make sense, but there is still profit out of the 7 day treatment. Many people are not willing to pay as much as the 1 day so they will buy the 7 day. However, the main reason why the 7 day still exists is because it has a smaller dosage of the medication. It is targeted towards diabetics as well as people who take other meds so it doesn’t coincide with their medications. Now the real question is….who would want to use a REUSABLE dispenser and reinsert the cream into it when you can just use the ovule which is quick, clean, and easy!

I just recently used the one day – and OUCH!!! It was worse than the yeast infection. Obviously the medcine is 100% stronger than the 3 day or 7 day. ABSOLUTLEY AWFUL – But it does get rid of it. But I never had so much pain or swelling from the other 3-7 days.

Karen…Karen. Come on, family site here. Jeez.

As others have posted, I only use the 7 day treatment because my doctor told me the others are just quick fixes which don’t always kill all of the fungus. I’ve also read horror stories about the 3 and 1 day treatments causing terrible side effects like bleeding!

  • Ashley

I use the one day treatment because I’ve gone long enough with the itching and the scratching. I can’t stand to go the 7 extra days. Egh.

  • Rachel

Because of the strength of the medicine. Both the 3- and 1-day treatments will actually take the same amount of time to clear up the infection. The difference is that they have fewer doses, thus the medication itself is more concentrated. One of the more common side effects of miconazole is increased irritation. The more concentrated the medicine, the more likely — and intense — side effects will be experienced.

This, by the way, is common sense for the course of ANY medication. It works best in carefully measured doses taken at the same time each day as directed. If it’s 3 times a day, that means every 8 hours. 4 times a day means every 6 hours, twice a day means every 12 hours, and so on.

I only use the 7-day because it’s the lowest dosage and the least likely to produce nasty side effects. Sure, it’s not convenient, but at least the cure won’t be worse than the disease.

So, as someone else said, the 1 day treatment made me swell up, as well. The swelling was way worse than the yeast infection! It went on for about a week, but it took one more week before things were “normal” down there. I guess if you have sensative skin, DO NOT use the one day treatment, trust me! I’d rather take a week’s worth of doses than to go through that ever again!

Well I am here to say….Don’t do it, it’s a trick! I used the ovule last night and my symptoms are way worse today. It is pretty bad. I too wanted a quick fix and have set my stuff on FIRE! The seven day has never done this to me. I am misserable at the moment and even if it did come with cool wipes…three aren’t enough. The external cream hurts too! DO NOT DO IT GIRLS!

I used the 7 day treatment when I was pregnant. It’s the only over the counter one my dr would let me use.
