Matt and Wordpress take on Blogger, Moveable Type, and others… and enter the world of the hosted blog.
Sounds neat. My initial thought is that MT and Blogger have been widely adopted by the slightly less technical user who was looking to get up and running on the spot, without need for a top level domain, or a desire to get too far uner the hood, while Wordpress was for those who wanted to get their hands a bit dirtier. To that end, I wonder if any real Wordpress lovers will bother with this hosted version beyond just setting up a blog to see what is behind the curtain and/or to secure a nice domain name like andrew.wordpress.com.
I guess a move like this still makes some sense in that it will give Wordpress a nice reach, but I am curious as to how well it will catch on with the Wordpress set. I for one, have no real need for the hosted version…the download and install works just fine.

Hmmm… nice catch… seems kinda like overkill. I mean, doesn’t EVERYONE provide a free hosted blog these days? To me it’s like entering the SUV market with a new SUV. Isn’t it saturated enough?

Plus their site sucks.
