About three weeks ago I was approached by a friend of a friend and asked if I would like to be a beta tester for a new system called Talkr, which would turn my blog feeds into pod casts. Naturally, being a very willing guinea pig for almost anything new and tech related, I happily agreed to use the service. Like I needed another reason to create long winded posts full of funny words like cock, retard, and anal bum cover, right?
According to Talkr, in addition to getting the full feed, there will also soon be links at the bottom of each post allowing you as a reader to listen to any post at random, which should be pretty slick. In the meantime, look for this little button

on the right hand side of the page, down by the feed links, and let me know how it all works. I just added all of the links, and have yet to test things out myself (which I plan to do soon), so my apologies if you give this a whirl and it is a little bumpy.
Oh, and if you want Talkr on your blog, be sure and sign up via this link so I get some props for helping to spread the word.
UPDATE: So I tested this out, and it is decent. Predictably, the text to speech engine has a little trouble with the inflection and tone, but it is not too bad. The other annoyance is the fact that it spells out my URL before each post a-n-d-r-e-w-t-e-m-a-n-.org, but these are likely tweaks that will come with time. I am going to stick with it…I think this is an idea with some legs.
