Gotta love clever direct marketing that is just interesting and well done enough to get some extra viral legs via blogs. My boss just brought something over to my desk that he had received in the mail and had me take a look. It was a simple white box, about 3″x 3″x 3″ and inside was nothing but a fortune cookie in a plain plastic wrapper, not unlike what you would see with the bill at a Chinese restaurant. No papers, no information, nothing but the fortune cookie in a white box. Upon opening the box and the cookie, there was a fortune inside that said nothing but whatsmyfortune.com.
Of course, now we were hooked and compelled to check out the site which contained a clever little video that led into a pitch fora managed ISP service. Brilliantly simple and effective in getting the recipient to check out the pitch and the product. The only thing that this campaign was lacking was a properly targeted list. We are not and ISP and have no need whatsoever for managed ISP services. A+ for simple and effective marketing though. I was hooked right away, and I am guessing most of the other recipients of this piece were as well.
