So in the past week, I purchased eight domains. This brings my overall total to 30+, and I estimate that only about 15% of them actually contain any content that is worth a damn. I know there are others out there who have this same affliction. Certain friends have confided that they too have this strange need to compulsively gobble up random domains as if they were stockpiling for some internet end of the world. Domains should seriously cost $500 a piece to deter this behavior.

I’ve been there. I would never buy domains when they were $100 and you had to convince someone to allow you to register a .net or a .org address because they were special. Now that I can pick up a domain for less than $10, I do it on a whim, even to make a punchline to a joke better…

I agree, $100 would make a domain feel a lot more special. $500 is probably a bit extreme, though I think I would still get one
